Chief of Staff
About the role
The Chief of Staff will serve as a force multiplier for the investment team and a strategic partner to the firm’s leadership. Founded in 2008 out of an MIT dorm, REMUS is an early-stage venture capital firm that has raised four funds and backed category-defining companies including EquipmentShare, Suno AI, Hello Patient, Avoca, and ClassPass.
Responsibilities
- Partner closely with the Managing Partners to identify and advance key strategic initiatives, define success metrics, and drive accountability across the firm
- Lead special projects such as developing new investment themes, refining internal systems, and launching firm-wide initiatives
- Act as a primary point of contact for portfolio founders, providing timely, high-quality support across strategy, operations, hiring, go-to-market execution, and fundraising
- Translate board-level discussions into actionable plans, mobilizing internal and external resources to support company needs
- Orchestrate targeted support by connecting founders with the right experts, operators, and peer networks within the ecosystem
- Maintain a high standard of responsiveness, reliability, and follow-through in all founder interactions
- Serve as the organizational connective tissue across the investment team, 3rd party vendors, founders, and LPs
- Streamline internal processes, improve information flow, and implement systems that enhance execution and scalability
- Manage CRM systems and oversee pipeline tracking, investment committee coordination, and internal reporting processes
- Support due diligence efforts through research, synthesis of materials, and preparation of investment memos
- Aid in fundraising efforts, including preparation of pitch materials, data room management, LP outreach coordination, and conference attendance
- Assist in ongoing investor communications through quarterly updates, reports, and performance tracking
- Help identify and cultivate prospective LP relationships, contributing to pipeline development and engagement strategies
- Amplify REMUS Capital’s brand by developing relationships with media, pitching stories, and producing thought leadership content
- Contribute to the creation of quarterly and annual reports, conference submissions, and lead communications initiatives
- Build and maintain relationships with other venture funds and ecosystem participants; coordinate and co-host events
- Organize value-add programming for portfolio companies, including workshops, panels, and curated founder experiences
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience
- 2+ years of experience in startups, venture capital, consulting, financial services, or related fields
- Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
- Demonstrated ability to operate both strategically and tactically, with a bias toward execution
- Experience with CRM systems (e.g., HubSpot), Google Workspace, AI productivity tools and LLMs, design tools such as Canva
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience drafting professional correspondence and reports
- Comfort working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment with a high degree of ownership and accountability
- Prioritize building relationships, managing processes, and driving outcomes in ambiguous environments
- High level of professionalism, discretion, and low ego; willingness to contribute wherever needed
