About the role
The Department 10010 Atrium Health Pineville seeks a visionary and experienced Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) to lead nursing and clinical operations. Reporting to the CEO, this role will oversee strategic and operational plans, ensure compliance with regulatory standards, and foster a culture of excellence.
Responsibilities
- Develops and executes nursing strategic and operational plans, aligning with enterprise goals.
- Maintains safety, risk, and compliance standards at all care levels.
- Plans, develops, and manages operating and capital budgets for nursing and other assigned areas.
- Led innovative care delivery models and improvement initiatives using evidence-based practices.
- Fosters a work environment of clinical excellence and supports Magnet and Pathways principles.
- Advances the nursing profession through professional development and leadership succession planning.
- Leverages healthcare technology and nursing information systems to enhance care delivery and outcomes.
- Ensures compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and accreditation standards.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in nursing or healthcare-related field required (MSN, MBA, MHA, or similar).
- Nationally recognized nursing leadership or specialty certification required.
- Typically requires 10 years of progressive nursing leadership experience, including senior management and accountability for staff, budget, and outcomes.
- Strategic planning, enterprise thinking, and change leadership capabilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to build collaborative relationships with executives, physicians, interdisciplinary teams, and external partners.
Qualifications
- Doctorate (DNP or PhD) preferred.
Skills
- Demonstrated expertise in nursing operations, quality improvement, regulatory compliance, and professional practice standards.
- Strong strategic planning, enterprise thinking, and change leadership capabilities.
- Proven ability to lead large, complex teams and influence across matrixed organizations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
