Chief Nursing Officer

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and support the nursing team to deliver high-quality resident care and enhance clinical outcomes.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and facility regulations, maintaining survey readiness.
• Collaborate with the executive leadership and interdisciplinary teams to support facility goals and operational success.
• Oversee staffing, scheduling, recruitment, retention, and staff development within the nursing department.
• Drive quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives through data analysis and action planning.
• Foster a culture focused on resident rights, dignity, safety, and person-centered care.
• Support employee growth through education, mentorship, coaching, and clinical competency development.
• Maintain effective communication with residents, families, staff, and external providers to promote a positive environment.
• Participate in budget planning, staffing recommendations, and operational strategies.
• Assist with interdisciplinary care coordination and oversight of clinical processes such as MDS and admissions.
• Lead the facility through challenges with professionalism, resilience, and strong leadership.

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license in Oregon.
• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; BSN or MSN preferred.
• Current CPR certification.
• Valid driver’s license.
• 3–5 years of successful leadership experience as a Director of Nursing, CNO, or equivalent in a skilled/long-term care setting.
• Knowledge of federal and state regulations related to skilled nursing facilities.
• Strong clinical judgment and management skills.

Preferred Experience / Skills

• DNS-CT or CDONA certification is a plus.
• Experience leading interdisciplinary teams and fostering positive employee relations.
• Background in regulatory compliance, staffing management, and quality improvement.
