Job Summary

This position is responsible for leadership and management of the Oyate Health Center (OHC) medical services. Develops, implements, and evaluates the medical practice delivery model in accordance with the goals of the Great Plains Tribal Leaders Health Board (GPTLHB) and assures delivery of quality medical services to the patients of the OHC.

Essential Functions

  • Provides strategic leadership for all clinical departments, ensuring the medical services provided meets the highest quality of care and safety initiatives.
  • Leads the initiatives aimed at improving patient outcomes, access to care, and healthcare delivery, working closely with the quality improvement/assurance team members.
  • Oversee the recruitment, performance evaluation, credentialing and peer review of the medical staff, fostering a culture of teamwork and ensuring professional development.
  • Deliver direct patient care within scope of privileges, including diagnosis, treatment, prescribing, and performing office procedures approximately 50% of the time balanced with administrative time to provide oversight and guidance to clinical staff.
  • Collaborate with finance and other senior leaders to manage the clinical budget and identify cost savings. Ensure clinical staff maintain compliance with billing and coding standards.
  • Lead the Integrated Care Team initiative to ensure optimal patient outcomes in a primary care setting. Help set the vision and direction for clinical systems in collaboration with senior leadership.
  • Effectively plan, organize workload and schedule time to meet the demands of the position.
  • Ensure OHC adheres to regulations, laws, policies, and accreditation standards.
  • Work in a cooperative and professional manner with OHC and GPTLHB staff.
  • Treat Great Plains tribes and collaborators with dignity and respect.
  • Utilize effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Advance personal educational development by attending training sessions and seminars as appropriate.
  • Exemplify excellent customer service with tribal stakeholders, health board colleagues, program partners, service recipients, visitors and guests.

Education/Experience

  • Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy degree from an accredited medical school and successful completion of post graduate training and an approved residency program.
  • Must have a permanent, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in any U.S. State or Territory.
  • Current, valid, unrestricted Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) License.
  • Must obtain and maintain medical staff clinical privileges, including any licensure requirements.
  • This is an executive-level management position requiring post-secondary education and/or considerable experience.
  • Individuals must have applicable education and/or experience applying a wide range of concepts, principles, and practices of a professional or administrative occupation to difficult and complex work assignments; or applicable education and/or experience applying comprehensive, intensive, practical knowledge of a technical field, and skill in applying this knowledge to the development of new methods, approaches, or procedures.
