Chief Medical Officer

About the role

The Chief Medical Officer (CMO) at Atlantic Health Overlook Medical Center (AHOMC) in Summit, NJ, serves as a key member of Atlantic Health’s senior leadership team and executive leadership of the medical center. They provide clinical leadership, expertise, and perspective to the senior and executive leadership team as well as the medical staff and other team members across the organization.

Responsibilities

• Execute on Clinical Excellence
• Achie and sustain Vizient Five-Star Rating
• Drive sustained top-decile national performance in mortality, complications, efficiency, and patient safety metrics
• Establish hospital-based medicine as a high-reliability clinical enterprise with standardized, evidence-based care pathways
• Maintain a high level of clinical credibility within the medical center with all stakeholders

Requirements

• MD or DO with board certification in a relevant specialty
• Advanced degree or formal leadership training (MBA, MHA, MPH, or equivalent) preferred
• Demonstrated senior physician leadership experience in hospital-based medicine or related enterprise roles
• Strong clinical leader with experience of driving improvements in quality and safety
• Deep understanding of Vizient, CMS, Leapfrog, and value-based care frameworks
• Strong collaborative leadership and executive communication skills
• High comfort level managing a combination of employed and voluntary staff
• All candidates must be licensed or eligible for licensure in the State of New Jersey
• 10+ years’ experience in senior clinical leadership – ideally as CMO, Associate CMO or Chairperson of a large department
• Experience within an academic setting is strongly preferred
• Track record of physician workforce development and succession planning

Pay

$525,000–$715,000 base salary only; excludes leadership incentive.
