Chief Lending Officer
About the role
Build the future of lending for a collaborative credit union poised for growth. Heritage Family Credit Union (HFCU) is seeking a strategic, relationship-driven Chief Lending Officer (CLO) to lead the next chapter of its lending organization.
Responsibilities
- Lead the next chapter of HFCU’s lending organization, shaping enterprise lending strategy, helping expand the residential mortgage business, and continuing to build on the credit union's strong consumer and commercial lending foundation.
- Serve as a key member of the executive leadership team and a trusted strategic partner across the organization, balancing growth, operational excellence, member experience, and sound risk management.
- Oversee all lending functions, including consumer, mortgage, indirect, collections, and commercial lending.
- Develop or enhance lending products, pricing strategies, and delivery channels that support sustainable loan growth and an exceptional member experience.
- Own a lending technology strategy, including digital lending platforms, automated decisioning, loan origination systems, analytics, automation, and process improvements that enhance both operational efficiency and the member experience.
Requirements
- Executive lending leadership experience within a credit union or community bank.
- Deep expertise in consumer and residential mortgage lending, with a demonstrated track record of growing or modernizing a mortgage program.
- Experience leading complex lending organizations with responsibility for multiple lending functions, including consumer, mortgage, indirect, collections, and commercial lending.
- Knowledge of mortgage operations, secondary market execution, pricing strategies, portfolio management, and consumer lending best practices.
- Strong business acumen with the ability to balance loan growth, credit quality, profitability, and regulatory compliance.
- A passion for coaching and developing leaders while building accountability, confidence, and high-performing teams.
- A collaborative leadership style that values partnership over silos, humility over ego, and organizational success over individual recognition.
- Experience contributing to executive-level strategic planning, budgeting, forecasting, portfolio management, and organizational growth initiatives.

Benefits
Heritage Family Credit Union offers a competitive compensation package, including a salary range of approximately $175,000 - $272,000 annually, with a target starting salary at the midpoint. The position is remote, with travel to HFCU’s headquarters in Rutland, Vermont, for board meetings, executive leadership meetings, strategic planning sessions, and other key organizational events.
