Chief Legal Officer

For our client, we are seeking a Chief Legal Officer to join the team of a leader in the Finance & Insurance space. This role will provide business-aligned guidance focused on governance, compliance, and operational risk management. You will partner with leaders, compliance stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to translate complex issues into practical recommendations. The position offers the opportunity to strengthen responsible execution, improve decision-making, and support sustainable growth within a regulated financial services environment. Location: New York, NY - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available Compensation: $575,000 – $625,000 annually Responsibilities Advise the Board on governance and fiduciary matters Engage with the Board for effective oversight during transformation Oversee compliance with SEC and stock exchange requirements Partner on growth initiatives and strategic transactions Lead engagement with global regulators and ensure compliance Set frameworks for enterprise risk governance Oversee litigation strategy and risk management Qualifications Prior experience as General Counsel or Chief Legal Officer in a public company Deep knowledge in governance, securities, regulatory, and commercial matters Experience in data-rich and IP-intensive sectors Senior-level regulatory engagement experience with policymakers Proven leadership in enterprise transformation and AI adoption Benefits Opportunity to shape the legal and governance agenda of a global institution Direct collaboration with the CEO and Executive Leadership Team Role in leading significant transformation initiatives Potential for participation in an annual incentive plan Access to additional employee benefits Our client is an equal opportunity employer.
