About the role

The Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) serves as a high-level executive authority for cybersecurity policy, strategy, and IT security governance under the general direction of the Chief Information Officer (CIO). The CISO provides high-level direction on cybersecurity risks and investments, advises executive leadership on statewide and departmental policy impacts, and ensures the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the State Treasurer's Office (STO) information assets. The incumbent shapes and implements long-range cybersecurity strategies, ensures compliance with state and federal mandates, and leads the information security program with significant policy-making authority across all cybersecurity functions.

Responsibilities

• Provide executive leadership for cybersecurity policy, strategy, and IT security governance.
• Advise on cybersecurity risks, investments, and statewide/departmental policy impacts.
• Ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of STO’s information assets.
• Shape and implement long-range cybersecurity strategies.
• Ensure compliance with state and federal cybersecurity mandates.
• Lead the information security program with broad policy-making authority.

Qualifications

The position requires a cleared Background Investigation prior to hiring. Only individuals eligible for appointment to a Career Executive Assignment (CEA) by the State of California may apply.

Pay

$10,349.00 - $12,526.00 per month. New to State candidates will be hired at the minimum salary of the classification or the minimum of the alternate range, if applicable.

Schedule

Full-time, Career Executive Assignment (Non-Tenured). Hybrid telework arrangement.

Work Location

Sacramento County. The State Treasurer's Office is located in the historical Unruh Building at 915 Capitol Mall, near the State Capitol, public transportation, and parking garages. The area offers dining, coffee shops, fitness clubs, and other conveniences.
