About the role

The Chief Housing Officer (CHO) is a C Suite executive responsible for overseeing all of CHI’s housing residences/programs in New York City, Long Island, the Hudson Valley, and future locations.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the CEO, CFO, CAO, CHRO, General Counsel, Senior Vice Presidents, Vice President of Development, and Directors.
  • Serve as a key member of the executive leadership team.
  • Lead and direct oversight of all of CHI’s homeless and housing shelters/sites/residences in Long Island, Westchester, Hudson Valley and New York City and other future locations.
  • Maintain close relationships and dialogue with all federal/state/local regulatory agencies, including DHS, DSS, NYS OTDA, NYS OMH, NYC HPD, and other agencies.
  • Identify innovative housing solutions and partnerships to expand housing inventory.
  • Ensure housing placement goals, timelines, and performance metrics are met or exceeded set by DHS and other governmental entities.
  • Supervise a team of highly experienced Senior Vice Presidents, Vice Presidents, Directors and managers.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive housing strategy focused on expanding sustainable homeownership.
  • Oversee grant reporting related to housing, audits and performance monitoring.
  • Collaborate with the CHI housing development team to secure, acquire, develop and build LIHTC developments.
  • Provide executive leadership to homeownership department VP and staff.
  • Ensure optimum performance of personnel and interfacing of various agency divisions, executive, fiscal, services, property management, personnel.
  • Work closely with the CFO, the Controller, VP of Finance, Senior Vice Presidents, Vice Presidents and all Directors in the development and oversight of budgets.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory, licensing, and accreditation requirements.
  • Develop policies and procedures aligning service delivery with the requirements of government contracts, grants, foundations, or as otherwise required by the organization.
  • Promote cross-training between departments and strengthen career development.
  • Understand all shelter regulatory guidelines and housing, including Part 900, Part 491 and other homeless and housing government regulations/guidelines.
  • Work closely with the Vice President of Development in searching for corporate/foundation requests for proposals and initiatives.
  • Ensure the department under direct supervision is managed effectively and changes are implemented as necessary.
  • Ensure the annual program budgets are developed and overseen.

Qualifications

  • Extensive experience in the homeless and housing nonprofit and/or human services industry in New York.

Pay

$265,000. - $300,000 annually.

Schedule

Monday - Friday 9am-5pm.
