About the role

The incumbent is responsible for a major specialty program or programs at a multiple divisions facility. Incumbent may be responsible for the Service Line within one or multi divisions (Topeka/Leavenworth) and 9 CBOCS. He/she assumes professional, technical, and administrative responsibilities for programs extended to these areas as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and control the use of data related to programs regarding day to day functioning and program evaluation.
  • Cookbook the coordination of staffing, work assignments, budget, treatment services provided and criteria for the programs.
  • Assume responsibility for the overall clinical and administrative functions of ED/Acute Specialty Medicine/Clinical Specialty Lab.

Qualifications

  • United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
  • Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine.
  • Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
  • Residency Training: Physicians must have completed residency training, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.
  • Board certified in internal medicine.
  • Physical Requirements: Periods of long standing. Occasional lifting of moderately heavy objects. Long periods of sitting at a computer station. The need for high degree of accuracy, potentially stressful situations, and the ability to adapt work plans based on patient status.
