About the role

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will serve as a strategic partner to the Founder & CEO and a key member of the Executive Leadership Team. The CFO will oversee the organization's financial strategy, budgeting, forecasting, compliance, financial reporting, risk management, and long-term sustainability efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and execution of MAP's financial strategy by aligning financial resources with organizational priorities, supporting long-term sustainability planning, evaluating growth opportunities and financial implications, advising executive leadership on financial decisions, and building financial frameworks that support strategic goals.
  • Oversee annual organizational budgeting, multi-year financial forecasting, departmental budget planning, resource allocation strategies, scenario planning and financial modeling, and organizational financial projections.
  • Provide leadership with financial dashboards, budget-to-actual reporting, financial performance reviews, cash flow analysis, strategic financial insights, and executive-level financial recommendations.
  • Partner with development and advancement leadership to align fundraising strategy with organizational goals, evaluate revenue diversification opportunities, support grant budgeting and financial planning, strengthen financial sustainability efforts, and develop long-term revenue strategies.
  • Support the development and oversight of financial policies and procedures, internal control systems, financial compliance practices, risk mitigation strategies, audit readiness, and financial governance standards.
  • Partner with the Board of Directors and Finance Committee to prepare financial reports, support financial oversight responsibilities, present financial performance updates, assist with strategic planning discussions, and support governance and accountability practices.
  • Evaluate new programs and initiatives, expansion opportunities, technology investments, strategic partnerships, organizational infrastructure needs, and long-term capital requirements.
  • Collaborate with PromiseMeasure, PromisePeople, PromisePrograms, PromisePublic, PromiseLearning, PromiseStudios, PromiseStack, PromiseShield, and PromiseFinance Team Members to help build financial literacy, accountability, and stewardship throughout the organization.

Qualifications

  • We welcome candidates from diverse nonprofit, corporate, public sector, consulting, and financial leadership backgrounds.
  • Helpful experience may include finance leadership, accounting, financial planning and analysis, nonprofit finance, budget management, auditing, strategic planning, investment or capital planning, executive leadership, and CPA, MBA, MPA, CFA, finance, accounting, economics, business, or related experience.
  • Strong candidates often demonstrate strategic financial thinking, executive leadership experience, financial modeling and forecasting expertise, strong communication skills, sound judgment and decision-making, ability to translate complex financial information into clear recommendations, and commitment to ethical stewardship and mission-driven leadership.
