Valle Vista Health System, a UHS facility located in Greenwood, IN, has provided behavioral health services to the South Indianapolis area for over 40 years. The 132-bed facility offers a peaceful setting for mental health and chemical dependency treatment, featuring unique and individualized programming for adolescents and adults.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and control accounts receivables, ensuring cash collection goals are met and net revenue is properly stated.
- Facilitate weekly A/R meetings with the CEO and Business Office Manager to communicate results and address areas of weakness.
- Oversee the relationship between the Business Office, Intake, and Utilization Review departments to maximize patient revenue.
- Improve hospital profitability by monitoring costs, particularly staffing relative to patient volume, payor mix, and length of stay to optimize reimbursement.
- Assist in negotiating contract terms with third-party payers and prepare pro-forma analyses for new programs or contracts to estimate outcomes.
- Monitor and evaluate the success or failure of implemented programs, including physician arrangements.
- Develop and maintain policies and procedures in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and corporate guidelines to ensure sufficient cash flow, reduced operating costs, and increased revenues.
- Prepare monthly financial statements, financial packages, and other informational reports or analyses, including account and variance analyses, journal entries, and internal controls to accurately reflect monthly operating results.
- Provide reconciliations, account analyses, and other information for the Reimbursement Department, Tax Department, Auditors, and other stakeholders.
- Prepare the annual budget in conjunction with UHS standards, collaborating with management and department heads to review prior financial results and anticipate future needs.
- Tailor hospital needs to align with UHS objectives.
- Perform other duties as assigned or required.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a financial leadership role within a healthcare setting.
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
- Working knowledge of hospital financial operations, federal and local tax regulations, and all business office, accounting, payroll, and administrative operations from registration through discharge.
- Skilled in interpreting financial analysis and performance information, preparing schedules and reports, and using electronic spreadsheets and databases.
- Up to 2% travel may be required.
