Chief Financial Officer (CFO) - Mercy Care Atlanta

POSITION PURPOSE

Provides financial stewardship and direction to Mercy Care Atlanta. The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is responsible for the integrity of all financial information and reporting. The position participates with other senior management to address, interpret, resolve and monitor a broad and diverse range of financial, operational and strategic issues.

Essential Functions

• Knows, understands, incorporates and demonstrates Mercy Care Atlanta’s and Trinity Health mission, vision and values in leadership behavior, practices and decisions.
• Functions as the business strategy partner for the Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
• Oversees all finance functions including financial reporting, accounting, payroll and disbursements, operating and capital budget process, strategic financial planning, financial analysis, forecasting and decision support.
• Communicates with and acts as staff to Mercy Care Atlanta governance including the Finance and Strategy Committee.
• Communicates with and builds a strong collaborative relationship with the Mercy Care Atlanta medical staff.
• Participates in the Integrated Delivery System Councils.
• Develops and oversees budgets which conform to the strategic and financial plans of Mercy Care Atlanta and Trinity Health.
• Reviews key financial indicators of volume, cost, productivity etc. on a weekly, bi-weekly and monthly basis with the Senior Leadership Teams, together with specific recommendations on how to improve these performance indicators.
• Works collaboratively with Senior Leadership to monitor daily indicators of activity to support proactive management of operations and cost control including productivity.
• Engages System Office Financial Operations on issues, discussing these and seeking assistance and resources as needed.
• Develops implements and oversees appropriate financial operating systems, processes, and controls that provide accurate and timely financial information, community benefit reporting and other external reporting.
• Monitors Mercy Care Atlanta balance sheets including cash and debt positions and proactively manages capital spending to ensure it is within budget.
• Proactively evaluates financial results by service line/program analysis and benchmarking to identify opportunities and provide substantive advice relative to improving financial performance.
• Identifies, evaluates and make recommendations on new business opportunities with a focus on growth.
• Reviews grant-funded program performance and advises senior leadership on financial risk, sustainability, opportunities for expansion, and strategic use of grant resources to advance mission, population health, and service delivery.
• Maintains a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State and local laws/regulations; the Trinity Health Integrity and Compliance Program and Code of Conduct; as well as other policies and procedures in order to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical and professional behavior.
