Compensation
The anticipated annual salary range is $230,000–$250,000, commensurate with experience.
Location
The CFO will be based at Yosemite Conservancy’s offices in San Francisco, CA, with the option for a hybrid work schedule in coordination with Conservancy leadership, though more frequent in-office presence should be expected during the first year. Periodic travel to Yosemite National Park for site visits, staff engagement, and Board and donor meetings is expected. Occasional evening and weekend availability may be required for Board meetings, donor engagement, and events.

About the Role
The Chief Financial Officer serves as a key member of the senior leadership team, providing strategic financial guidance and operational excellence in support of the Conservancy’s mission. Reporting to the President & CEO and working closely with the Board of Directors, the CFO will oversee all financial operations, ensure long-term fiscal sustainability, and help the Conservancy deploy donor resources with maximum impact and accountability.

Responsibilities
- Oversee all financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting
- Ensure long-term fiscal sustainability through strategic financial planning and risk management
- Deploy donor resources with maximum impact and accountability
- Provide strategic financial guidance to support the Conservancy’s mission
- Work closely with the Board of Directors to align financial strategies with organizational goals
- Manage relationships with donors, foundations, and other stakeholders to secure funding
- Develop and maintain strong internal controls and financial policies
- Lead the development and implementation of financial systems and processes
- Collaborate with the President & CEO and other senior leaders to ensure alignment between financial strategy and overall organizational objectives
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in finance, preferably in a non-profit setting
- Proven track record of successful financial management and strategic financial planning
- Experience in managing budgets, forecasting, and financial reporting
- Strong understanding of financial regulations and compliance requirements
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to communicate complex financial information clearly and effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders
