Responsibilities

  • Strategic Financial Leadership:
    • Lead enterprise-wide financial strategy, aligning long-term plans with mission priorities, capital campaigns, lines of credit, and impact investments.
    • Serve as a strategic co-pilot to the CEO and Integrator, translating complex data into forward-looking scenarios and recommendations.
    • Own the finance function’s EOS scorecard, Rocks, and meeting cadence to drive organizational traction and accountability.
  • Accounting, Reporting & Compliance:
    • Oversee accounting, monthly close, internal controls, and reporting to deliver accurate, timely, and decision-ready data.
    • Ensure strict compliance with GAAP, nonprofit fund accounting, IRS Form 990, and grant and donor restrictions.
    • Partner with senior finance leadership to lead the annual audit, collaborating with external auditors and the Board/Finance Committee.
  • Budgeting, Forecasting & Performance Analysis:
    • Lead annual budgeting and forecasting cycles in partnership with department heads to build shared financial discipline.
    • Develop agile financial models tailored to a mix of philanthropy, restricted grants, social enterprise, and earned revenue.
    • Monitor variances and build predictive scenario models to evaluate investments, staffing, and shifting revenue conditions.
  • Treasury, Risk, Property & Infrastructure Stewardship:
    • Manage cash flow, liquidity, reserves, investments, and banking relationships to secure current and future operations.
    • Mitigate financial, legal, and operational risk through robust policies, insurance oversight, and contract reviews.
    • Provide executive oversight for real estate holdings and information systems to ensure security, efficiency, and scalability.
  • Financial Systems & Cross-Functional Decision Support:
    • Optimize financial systems, dashboards, and workflows for better data accessibility and user experience.
    • Partner across departments to connect budgets, staffing plans, and fundraising assumptions into a cohesive financial strategy.
  • Team Leadership & Culture:
    • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing finance team focused on technical excellence and a service-oriented mindset.
    • Model EOS disciplines and organizational values to foster a culture of trust, direct communication, and continuous learning.
  • Equity & Community Integration:
    • Apply an equity lens to resource allocation, budgeting, and policies to reduce barriers and support community-led initiatives.
    • Serve as a collaborative ambassador to the Board, funders, and auditors to build organizational credibility and trust.

    Requirements

    • Leadership:
      • 10+ years of progressive finance/operations experience, including senior-level organizational strategy.
    • Education:
      • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or equivalent experience.
    • Nonprofit Finance Expertise:
      • Deep knowledge of fund accounting, grant compliance, restricted funds, and managing complex, multi-source revenue (philanthropy, grants, fee-for-service).
    • Team & Collaboration:
      • Proven ability to manage and develop teams and build cross-functional partnerships.
    • Execution & Systems:
      • Strong analytical skills with comfort operating in structured frameworks (e.g., EOS, OKRs).
    • Communication:
      • Exceptional prioritization, execution, and board-facing financial communication skills.
    • Values:
      • Demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusion, and anti-racism in leadership.

      Preferred Credentials

      • CPA, CMA, MBA, or relevant advanced degree.
