Our client is a regionally and nationally recognized, mission-driven nonprofit organization providing state-of-the-art services and programs for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and those living with mental illness. Headquartered in the southwest suburbs of Chicago, the organization serves thousands of individuals and their families across Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana. Operating with an annual budget of more than $40M, the organization manages a complex and diversified funding portfolio that includes government contracts, private grants, program fees, and donor support. This financial complexity, combined with deep community impact, requires sophisticated financial leadership grounded in both technical expertise and mission alignment.

The Opportunity

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) serves as a key member of the Executive Management Team and reports directly to the President and Chief Executive Officer. This is a senior leadership role with broad responsibility for the financial health, integrity, and strategic direction of the organization. The CFO will partner closely with the CEO, department leaders, and the Board of Directors to translate mission into financial strategy and ensure the organization has the systems, controls, and analysis needed to make confident decisions.

• Experience in nonprofit finance with a strong understanding of government contracting and multi-source funding environments.
• A strong leader with the ability to build and grow the capacity of the 10+ member team.
• The ability to communicate financial information clearly to diverse audiences and serve as a trusted organizational partner.
