Chief Financial Officer

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the company's financial strategy aligned with business goals.
  • Provide financial insights and recommendations.
  • Support mergers, acquisitions, investments, and expansion initiatives.
  • Drive long-term financial planning and sustainable growth.
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling processes.
  • Monitor company performance against financial targets.
  • Analyze financial data and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Prepare strategic financial reports and presentations.
  • Oversee accounting operations and ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards.
  • Ensure timely and accurate month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Prepare accurate and timely financial statements and management reports.
  • Maintain general ledger integrity and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Report on revenue, costs, margins, and working capital.
  • Oversee job costing, inventory, fleet, and fixed asset accounting.
  • Maintain strong internal controls and financial governance.
  • Manage cash flow, liquidity, and working capital.
  • Oversee banking relationships and financing activities.
  • Monitor investments and financial risks.
  • Identify and mitigate financial and operational risks.
  • Ensure compliance with tax laws, regulations, and reporting requirements.
  • Develop and maintain corporate policies and procedures.
  • Oversee the company's insurance and risk management programs in collaboration with private equity partners.
  • Cover audits, tax compliance, and external auditor relationships.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the payroll and accounting team.
  • Establish performance objectives and accountability measures.
  • Promote a culture of financial discipline and continuous improvement.

Required Skills & Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of financial planning, accounting, taxation, and corporate finance.
  • Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and strategic thinking skills.
  • Proficiency in financial management systems and ERP platforms.

Education & Experience

  • 7–10+ years accounting/finance leadership experience.
  • Controller, VP Finance, Director of Finance, or business unit CFO experience.
  • CPA preferred; MBA optional.
  • Experience in a multi-location, service, trades, distribution, or operating-company environment if applicable.
  • Experience with ADP and Sage Intacct preferred.

Physical Demands

  • Must be physically able to lift, lower, push, and pull objects of up to 25 lbs. unassisted.
  • Ability to stand, walk, climb, bend, stoop, and crouch for extended periods of time.

Work Environment

  • Office Based.
  • Standard Office Hours: Monday – Friday; 7:00am – 5:00pm.
