Established in 1937, Jacksonville Area Legal Aid is a nonprofit law firm focused on delivering economic, social, and housing justice to low-income and at-risk individuals and families on the First Coast. JALA, a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation, has a budget of approximately $12.5 million, and in an average year, manages over 30 grants.
About the role
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) leads JALA’s financial operations in service to our mission. As a member of the Executive Management Team, the CFO plays a critical role in developing and implementing JALA’s overall financial strategy to carry out JALA’s mission and advocacy objectives. The CFO manages and oversees the accounting unit, focusing on JALA’s finances, financial reporting, budgeting, fiscal policies, and fiscal compliance. The CFO is a fiduciary of the organization in conjunction with the President & CEO, the Executive Management team, and the Board of Directors. The CFO oversees financial compliance for government (federal, state, and local) contracts and private grants.
Responsibilities
- Lead JALA’s financial operations and strategy to support the organization’s mission.
- Manage and oversee the accounting unit, including financial reporting, budgeting, fiscal policies, and compliance.
- Serve as a fiduciary alongside the President & CEO, Executive Management team, and Board of Directors.
- Oversee financial compliance for government contracts (federal, state, and local) and private grants.

Pay
$100,000 minimum, commensurate with experience.
