Chief Financial Officer
About the role
IMEG, one of the largest design consulting firms in the United States, is seeking a strategic and results-driven Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join its executive team. Reporting directly to the CEO, the CFO will play a pivotal role in guiding financial strategy, informing investment decisions, and positioning the organization for sustained long-term success.
Responsibilities
Serve as a strategic advisor to the CEO and executive team, shaping long-range planning, growth initiatives, and organizational strategy.
Lead the development and execution of the organization's financial strategy, ensuring alignment with business objectives and market opportunities.
Provide forward-looking financial insights and analysis to support decision-making at the executive and Board level.
Strengthen the credibility and influence of the finance function through timely, accurate, and actionable reporting.
Oversee all aspects of financial management, including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
Maintain the integrity and accuracy of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
Monitor organizational performance through Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), dashboards, and financial metrics.
Drive continuous improvement in financial processes, systems, and internal controls.
Lead financial due diligence and analysis for mergers, acquisitions, and strategic growth initiatives.
Optimize cash flow, working capital, and capital structure to support scalable growth.
Identify financial risks and opportunities, implementing strategies to mitigate exposure and enhance performance.
Maintain strong relationships with external partners, including banking institutions, auditors, tax advisors, and valuation experts.
Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) regulations, and applicable financial and regulatory standards.
Build, develop, and lead a high-performing finance team, fostering a culture of accountability, transparency, and continuous growth.
Evaluate and evolve the finance organization structure to support business needs and future scalability.
Champion change leadership and process improvement across the organization.
Requirements
Advanced expertise in financial analysis, forecasting, and performance management.
Executive presence with strong interpersonal and public speaking skills.
Strong strategic thinking and proven ability to operate as a trusted business partner.
Deep knowledge of risk management, internal controls, and financial governance.
Demonstrated success in budget development, cost management, and operational efficiency.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence and engage executive leadership and Board stakeholders.
Prominent leadership capability with a focus on talent development and team performance.
High level of integrity, confidentiality, and business ethics.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Ability to travel up to 30%, including occasional overnight stays.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Business Administration required.
MBA preferred.
Minimum of ten (10) years of experience serving as a Chief Financial Officer (CFO), including significant experience in mergers and acquisitions.
Experience within the engineering consulting industry preferred.

Pay
The salary range for this role varies by location. For Illinois-based candidates, the expected range is $200,000–$275,000 with adjustments for other geographic markets. Individual pay will be based on several factors including work location, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant.
Schedule
This role is ideally based in the Rock Island, IL office, where executive presence and collaboration are highly valued. We will also consider candidates who can be based near another IMEG office, with the ability to maintain strong visibility and engagement across the organization.
