General Summary of Purpose of this Position

Through a respectful, constructive, and energetic style, guided by the objectives of the organization, the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) plays an integral, supportive role in providing financial leadership for the organization and all programming, projects, and initiatives. The position is responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the organization in compliance with a multitude of regulations and in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, implementing best practices for a whole organization finance approach, and coming up with strategic plans to improve their company’s overall financial health. This position works closely with the CEO, Executive Team, and Department Directors to review regular financial reports, identify investment opportunities, and implement budgeting initiatives across the organization.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience: Five years of experience required. Certified Public Accounting (CPA) or Certified Management Accounting (CMA) and not-for-profit accounting experience preferred.
  • Education: A bachelor’s degree in accounting or business with an accounting emphasis.
  • Skills & Knowledge: Knowledge of GAAP, federal, state, local, and private grant regulations and OMB Uniform Guidance; demonstrated computer experience and knowledge of data processing as it relates to accounting systems; must be committed to the mission of HRDC and possess an ability to model core values in a team setting; ability to lead a team to provide for accurate and healthy financial outcomes; ability to read, interpret, and implement governmental regulations, rules, and procedure manuals; work with minimal supervision and effectively manage workflow; respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries; strong interpersonal and communication skills; exhibit self-motivation, high energy level, high level of organization and efficiency; demonstrate ability to make appropriate programmatic recommendations; effectively establish and maintain positive working relationships with program managers and other team members and support a culture of trust, integrity, and compassion.
