Role

In partnership with the CEO, the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) serves as a key member of the Executive Leadership Team and is responsible for the overall financial strategy, stewardship, and long-term financial sustainability of Enso Village.

Position Responsibilities

  • Serves as a member of the Executive Leadership Team, contributing to organizational strategy, operational planning, growth initiatives, and enterprise decision-making.

  • Develops and executes long-term financial strategies that support the organization's mission, strategic plan, and sustainability goals.

  • Advises the CEO, Board of Directors, Finance Committee, executive leaders, and the resident community on financial performance, risks, opportunities, and strategic investments.

  • Led financial modeling, scenario planning, and business analysis related to occupancy, service expansion, capital projects, workforce planning, and operational initiatives.

  • Evaluates emerging financial and operational trends and recommends strategies to strengthen organizational performance and long-term viability.

  • Identifies and mitigates financial, operational, and regulatory risks while ensuring sound fiscal stewardship.

  • Supports organizational growth and innovation by evaluating business opportunities, strategic partnerships, and capital investment initiatives.

Financial Operations and Reporting

  • Provides executive oversight of all accounting and finance functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, treasury management, general ledger, financial reporting, audits, payroll coordination, investments, bond compliance, and required reporting to and engagement of the resident community.

  • Ensures the integrity, accuracy, and transparency of all financial reporting and accounting practices.

  • Oversees the preparation and presentation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.

  • Presents financial results, forecasts, trends, and strategic recommendations to the CEO, Board of Directors, Finance Committee and the resident community.

  • Serves as staff liaison to the Audit and Finance Committees of the Board.

Capital Planning, Investments and Treasury Management

  • Oversees organizational liquidity, cash flow forecasting, debt management, banking relationships, and treasury functions.

  • Develops and implements strategies to optimize working capital and financial resources.

  • Oversees investment performance and compliance with Board-approved investment policies.

  • Led financial planning related to capital projects, facility improvements, infrastructure investments, and long-range asset management.

  • Manages relationships with lenders, bondholders, financial institutions, investment advisors, and external financial consultants.

  • Oversees bond compliance reporting and debt covenant monitoring.

Budgeting, Forecasting and Financial Planning

  • Leads enterprise-wide financial planning and forecasting processes, including required reporting to and engagement of the resident community.

  • Develops multi-year financial projections and long-range financial plans.

  • Provides strategic financial guidance to support organizational decision-making and resource allocation.

  • Leads and manages the annual operating and capital budget process, including preparation, forecasting, monitoring, variance analysis, and resident engagement as appropriate.

  • Partners closely with department leaders to provide guidance, education, and support regarding budgeting, labor management, purchasing controls, and financial stewardship.

  • Reviews monthly departmental Profit & Loss (P&L) reports with operational leaders to ensure clear understanding of budget performance, financial trends, operational variances, and opportunities for improvement.

  • Provides ongoing financial education and coaching to department leaders to strengthen financial accountability and operational decision-making.

  • Reviews and tracks capital expenditures in partnership with the Director of Facilities to resolve discrepancies, anticipate operational needs, and support facility performance and sustainability.

  • Assists leadership with forecasting related to occupancy, labor, operational expenses, and strategic initiatives across all levels of living and service departments.

Human Resources and Workforce Financial Partnership

  • Partners with Human Resources and Operational Leaders to Support Workforce Planning and Financial Stewardship.

  • Supports compliance with all Federal and California wage and hour law requirements related to payroll practices and financial processes.

  • Reviews labor trends, overtime, staffing patterns, and departmental financial performance to support operational and budgetary decision-making.

  • Provides financial guidance and support to department leaders related to labor budgets, workforce planning, and expense management.

  • Collaborates with HR and operational leaders on process improvements related to financial systems, labor tracking, reporting, and operational efficiencies.

  • Supports the development of financial reporting and analytics related to labor, occupancy, operational performance, and strategic initiatives across the community.

Compliance, Risk Management and Governance

  • Provides executive oversight of enterprise risk management and financial governance programs.

  • Ensures strong internal controls, ethical financial practices, and organizational accountability.

  • Advise executive leadership and the Board regarding regulatory, financial, and operational risks.

  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including financial reporting standards, tax requirements, California RCFE/CCRC operational and reporting requirements, and organizational policies.

  • Oversees internal controls, insurance coverage, financial risk management, and audit readiness processes.

  • Oversees internal and external audits to ensure timely and accurate completion.

  • Oversees tax planning and compliance activities, including payroll taxes, local, state, and federal reporting requirements.

  • Ensures meeting or exceeding legal requirements for communicating and engaging the resident community in financial matters.

Leadership and Team Development

  • Provides executive leadership for the Finance Department and develops a high-performing team focused on service, accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.

  • Conducts regular check-ins, performance evaluations, coaching conversations, and professional development planning for Finance team members.

  • Ensures team members receive appropriate training on systems, processes, internal controls, compliance requirements, and organizational expectations.

  • Promotes accountability, operational excellence, customer service, and continuous improvement throughout the Finance Department.

  • Partners collaboratively with department leaders and Executive Leadership to support organizational initiatives and operational goals.

Community & Operational Leadership

  • Serves as Manager on Duty (MOD) as assigned, supporting campus operations, incident response, and resident safety.

  • Participates as an active member of the Safety Committee, supporting workplace safety initiatives, emergency preparedness planning, drills, incident review, and operational readiness.

  • Serves as a support during organizational emergency response efforts and operational continuity during critical incidents or emergencies.
