CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER

Knowledge

• Knowledge of the laws, rules, regulations, principles, and practices applicable to municipal government accounting, debt issuance, treasury management, pensions, and budgeting.
• Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
• Knowledge of relevant federal and state laws, city ordinances, and department policies and procedures.
• Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs.
• Knowledge of financial reporting requirements.
• Knowledge of federal, state, and city purchasing laws and policies.
• Knowledge of audit principles.
• Knowledge of public investment standards.
• Knowledge of federal and state accounting and auditing rules and regulations.
• Knowledge of liability insurance, broker solutions and risk assessments.

Skills

Experience

• Eight (8) years of progressively responsible finance, budgeting, and/or accounting experience in the public sector.
• At least five (5) years of government accounting experience in a management or supervisory position.
• Master’s degree in Accounting, Public Administration, Business Administration or related field required.
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred.
• State of Georgia Certified Financial Officer (CFO) certification is a plus.
• Bondable.
