About the role

The Chief Estimator plays a crucial role in managing and administering the division's estimating program, providing technical and administrative direction to ensure corporate objectives are met. This position requires advanced management or technical training, organizational, supervisory, and decision-making/problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and administer department functions including operating budgets, staffing, wage reviews, work assignments, performance evaluations, bid results and archives, etc.
  • Implement and maintain corporate estimating procedures utilizing the corporate computer estimating system and database.
  • Aid executives, business development, and project management in determining what types of projects to bid on, strategies, techniques, etc.
  • Review all final estimate packages for accuracy and completeness before formal quotation.
  • Assist in presentations to corporate management and clients, and may be responsible for closing the "sale."
  • Provide technical assistance in negotiating contracts, change orders, etc., as required.
  • Participate in the preparation of studies, materials, and methods, recommendations, and cost estimates as required.

Requirements

  • Advanced management or technical training preferred.
  • Organizational, supervisory, and decision-making/problem-solving skills essential.
  • Proficient in using a computer and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.).
  • Familiar with modern computer estimating systems.
  • Ability to prioritize, manage multiple tasks, and change priorities as necessary.
  • Ability to work under time pressure, continual deadlines, and adapt to changing requirements with a positive attitude.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills as required for the position.
  • Self-motivated and can work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to interact effectively and professionally with all levels of employees, vendors, clients, and others.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a business-related field.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in similar facility construction estimating and related functions.
  • A thorough knowledge of corporate objectives impacting estimating, estimating strategies and techniques, and construction contracts required.
  • Can be a combination of education and technical/field training such as Engineering, Estimating experience.

Pay

The pay range for this role is $180,100.00 - $236,400.00 annually. Candidate's pay can vary based on location, job-related experience, skills, and education.
