Essential Functions, Duties, And Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage all preconstruction and estimating activities for the Houston division
- Supervise, mentor, and support junior and senior estimators
- Develop accurate, competitive, and profitable bid proposals for projects of varying size and complexity
- Review RFQs, RFPs, and Invitations to Bid for compliance with company standards, schedules, and competitiveness
- Manage estimating schedules, workflows, and priorities to meet company objectives
- Review quantity takeoffs for accuracy and compliance with specifications and drawings
- Communicate with customers to define scope, address discrepancies, negotiate pricing, and build long-term relationships
- Prepare contractual exhibits, scope documents, and quantified scopes of work
- Conduct internal estimate reviews and lead departmental training and development initiatives
- Develop logical assumptions for conceptual estimates and ensure consistency across takeoffs
- Maintain and manage the Accubid database, including assemblies and estimating standards
- Establish and enforce uniform estimating procedures and best practices
- Participate in project turnover and kickoff meetings as needed
- Analyze bid results and completed projects to improve estimating accuracy
- Provide analytical summaries and recommendations to senior leadership to support decision-making
- Attend project meetings and industry events to maintain and grow strategic relationships
- Maintain confidentiality of all departmental and company information
- Afford additional duties as required to support business objectives
Qualifications
- Education, Experience, and Skills Required: Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or related field preferred; Extensive experience in electrical estimating and preconstruction leadership; Experience Requirements: 10 or more years of electrical estimating experience; Proven experience leading and developing estimating teams; Strong understanding of commercial electrical construction practices
- Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Advanced knowledge of estimating software, including Accubid; Strong analytical, organizational, and time-management skills; Excellent written and verbal communication skills; Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously; Strong leadership, mentoring, and decision-making capabilities
