Chief Engineer

About the role

Vacatia is seeking a Chief Engineer to lead the maintenance and engineering team at Vacation Village Resort in Williamsburg, VA. In this hands‑on leadership position you will ensure every system, space, and piece of equipment at the resort operates smoothly, from HVAC and electrical systems to grounds upkeep, setting the tone for excellence and delivering an outstanding guest experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor the engineering & maintenance team.
• Oversee daily operations of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
• Manage preventative maintenance programs to reduce downtime and extend equipment life.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and Vacatia standards.
• Plan and manage capital improvement projects.
• Partner with vendors and contractors to complete repairs and upgrades on time and on budget.

Requirements

• 5+ years of engineering or maintenance experience, including 2+ years in a leadership role (hospitality experience preferred).
• Strong knowledge of building systems and maintenance best practices.
• Ability to manage budgets, timelines, and a high‑performing team.
• Hands‑on skills and willingness to jump in when needed.
• Flexible availability, including on‑call coverage.
