Chief Engineer

About the role

Responsible for managing a crew of engineers to ensure the proper operation and maintenance of all Building MEP systems and equipment with a primary focus on HVAC equipment and systems. This includes but is not limited to: chillers, heat pumps, cooling towers, fans, boilers, pumps, heat exchangers, and controls.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance and repairs to all mechanical equipment and systems
• Regular attendance at assigned location
• Identify, isolate, and, in some instances, repair building-related issues that arise
• Perform troubleshooting of all site-wide HVAC equipment and associated systems
• Work closely with subcontractors to coordinate and ensure client procedures are safely followed
• Supervise, assist, and work alongside building engineers
• Perform maintenance work orders, preventive maintenance, building tours, and document on appropriate logs and/or forms
• Ensure CMMS system is fully optimized and utilized to its fullest
• Ensure all company and client KPIs are met
• Advocate cooperation of all personnel to ensure smooth operation of the entire department by supervising, assisting, and working alongside building engineers
• Maintain a professional, safe, and clean work area; comply with C&W Services and OSHA Safety Policies and Regulations
• Participate in client meetings
• Perform other duties as assigned
• Ensure assigned work tasks meet quality standards
• Operate Building Automation System (BAS)
• Operate Fire Alarm Control Panel (FACP)

Requirements

• Technical or trade school education
• EPA/CFC certified
• Mass Refrigeration License preferred, not required
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience
• Ability to read blueprints, control sequences, and have a clear understanding of codes and regulations
• Ability to read schematics, job instructions, and general correspondence

Physical Abilities

• Lifting up to 50 lbs regularly
• Full dexterity including bending, kneeling, twisting, fine motor skills with hands and fingers, full rotation of the head and neck
• Ability to see, hear, and be alert while operating equipment
• Ability to operate lift equipment and perform work safely utilizing extension and step ladders

Pay

The compensation for this position is $57.21 - $67.31 per hour, depending on factors such as geographic location, date of hire, total hours worked, job type, business line, and applicability of collective bargaining agreements. The company will not pay less than minimum wage for this role.
