The position is for a Chief Deputy County Counsel within the Kern County Counsel department.

Responsibilities

• Evaluates applicants' training, education, experience, and personal fitness for the position.
• Conducts investigations, oral exams, and rates applications.
• Ensures applicants meet the minimum score requirement of 70% across all phases of the examination.
• May conduct an appraisal of application materials to limit the number of candidates advancing to the oral examination to approximately the top fifteen (15).

Requirements

• Licensed by California State Bar
• Five years of legal experience including civil procedure

Additional Information

• Examination components will be administered during the scheduled dates, times, and locations without exception.
• Admittance to the examination requires a valid government-issued photograph identification.
• An applicant who cannot present proper identification must contact the Human Resources Division before the test date.
• A background check may be conducted for this classification.
• Following an offer of employment, you may be required to undergo post-offer medical and drug screening tests at County expense.
• The eligible list established by this examination will remain active for a period of twelve months, unless specified otherwise by the Civil Service Commission.
