Chief Data Officer
Major Responsibilities
Lead the development and execution of a unified enterprise data and analytics strategy aligned with organizational objectives, with enterprise authority over data standards, analytics platforms, and governance frameworks.
Modernize and oversee the enterprise data ecosystem, data warehouses, data lakes, and analytics platforms, and partner closely with Information Services to ensure secure, scalable, and high-performing infrastructure.
Ensure secure, high-quality data ingestion, integration, and management across clinical, operational, and financial domains to support trusted analytics and insights.
Establish and lead enterprise data governance, stewardship, and data quality programs in compliance with privacy, security, and regulatory requirements.
Advance analytics and data science capabilities, including self-service analytics, predictive modeling, population health analytics, and AI-driven decision support, to enable real-time and strategic decision-making.
Drive continuous improvement of analytics services through performance metrics, adoption tracking, and stakeholder feedback.
Partner with executive, clinical, and operational leaders to identify and prioritize high-impact opportunities where data and analytics can drive performance improvement and innovation.
Build, lead, and develop a high-performing, diverse data and analytics team, fostering professional growth and cross-functional collaboration.
Monitor industry trends and emerging technologies, and manage strategic vendors and external partnerships to keep the organization at the forefront of data and analytics practices.
Position Qualifications
- Licenses/Certifications/Education Required: Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or related field. Preferred Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Data Analytics, Health Informatics, Business Administration) strongly preferred.
- Experience/Skills Required: 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in enterprise data, analytics, or BI roles, including 5+ years in a senior executive role. Proven experience leading data transformation efforts within a large, complex, and regulated environment, preferably in healthcare. Expert knowledge of advanced data management, data architecture, data governance, and modern analytics tools/platforms. Demonstrated success in implementing advanced analytics, machine learning, and predictive modeling. Strong experience with healthcare data systems (e.g., Epic, claims data, population health tools) and regulatory requirements. Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with the ability to influence and align stakeholders at all levels. Strong vendor management and budgeting experience. Strategic thinker with a hands-on approach and strong execution capability. Exposure to Lean philosophies.
Physical Demands And Environmental Conditions
Work is considered sedentary. Position requires work indoors in a normal office environment.
