Chief Clinical Officer/Chief Operating Officer

About the role

The Chief Clinical Officer/Chief Operating Officer (CCO/COO) oversees the overall operations of Kindred Hospital New Jersey - Rahway, a 34-bed long-term acute care hospital. Key responsibilities include managing clinical, ancillary, and support departments, developing and monitoring budgets, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Embraces and advances the National Quality Program and HRO culture
• Directs strategic planning and hospital operations
• Develops and interprets hospital policies and procedures
• Maintains licensure/certification and competency of nursing staff
• Ensures compliance with regulatory and accreditation requirements
• Oversees finance and business office functions
• Monitors community health needs and responds to them
• Works with hospital leadership to foster a positive work environment
• Collaborates with regional leadership on safety and quality initiatives

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in nursing required
• Master’s degree in healthcare administration, business administration, public health, or clinical specialty preferred
• Registered Nurse license in the state
• Five years’ experience in healthcare administration/management, including two years’ experience at a senior nursing management level in a hospital setting
• Two years’ prior COO or CEO level experience preferred

Qualifications

• Basic computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office
• Knowledge of The Joint Commission, local, state, and federal laws and regulations
• Knowledge of budgeting, accounting, and management skills
• Ability to work with a large staff and diverse client base
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of patient and employee information
• Ability to work well with management teams and employees
• Ability to spend a limited amount of time on travel
