About the Role

Under the general direction of the Manager II, the Supervisor II oversees the Business Services Section within the Program Support Division (PSD). The incumbent ensures consistent application of departmental policy and compliance with control agency requirements related to department-wide functions, including mail operations, records and forms management, asset management, vehicle services, parking and transportation coordination, recycling, and other business services. The Supervisor II provides leadership and guidance to professional and administrative staff, and supports the Division’s operational continuity through effective workflow management, issue resolution, and cross-program collaboration. The position requires strong communication skills, sound judgment, and the ability to manage sensitive, time-critical assignments in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the Business Services Section within the Program Support Division (PSD).
  • Ensure consistent application of departmental policy and compliance with control agency requirements for department-wide functions such as mail operations, records and forms management, asset management, vehicle services, parking and transportation coordination, and recycling.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to professional and administrative staff.
  • Support operational continuity through effective workflow management, issue resolution, and cross-program collaboration.
  • Manage sensitive, time-critical assignments in a dynamic environment.

Requirements

Applicants must meet the Minimum Qualifications stated in the Classification Specification for the SUPERVISOR II role. The following items are required for the application:

  • Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) detailing how your skills, knowledge, abilities, education, training, and experience qualify you for the position. The SOQ should specifically address:
    • How your background aligns with the functions outlined in the duty statement.
    • An approach you use to build or maintain a collaborative team culture, including methods to encourage communication, trust, reduce silos, and increase shared problem-solving, along with outcomes demonstrating improved team functioning.
    • An example of an executive-level written product you created or drafted for executive review, explaining its purpose, your role, and challenges encountered and resolved.
    The SOQ must be no more than two pages, single-spaced, using 12-point font, with your full name and Job Control Number at the top right corner.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Skilled in utilizing Microsoft products such as Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint, Word, and Project.
  • Demonstrated clear and concise written and verbal communication skills with tact, and ability to apply State rules and regulations.
  • Ability to make independent, sound, and ethical decisions regarding highly sensitive matters and maintain confidentiality.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to rapid changes in priorities and assignments without compromising deadlines.
  • Experience analyzing complex issues and recommending effective courses of action using critical and creative thinking.
  • Ability to research, identify, and synthesize complex information for high-level communication.

Pay

$7,872.00 - $9,781.00 per month. New to State candidates will be hired into the minimum salary of the classification or minimum of alternate range when applicable.

Schedule

  • Job Type: Permanent, Full Time.
  • Work Location: Sacramento County.
  • Telework: Hybrid. The amount of telework is at the discretion of the Department and subject to change. Telework is available to California residents, and proof of residency may be required.
