Chief Advancement Officer
Job Summary
The Chief Advancement Officer (CAO) will serve as a key member of Cranbrook Educational Community’s senior leadership team and report directly to the President. This role carries enterprise-wide responsibility for advancing philanthropic strategy and performance across Cranbrook Schools, Cranbrook Academy of Art, Cranbrook Art Museum, Cranbrook Institute of Science, and Cranbrook Center for Collections and Research.
Core Responsibilities
- Provide visionary, data-informed leadership to grow and diversify philanthropic revenue.
- Deepen engagement with donors and constituents.
- Strengthen volunteer and board partnerships.
- Build and lead a high-performing advancement organization.
Qualifications
- Proven track record of success in fundraising and development roles.
- Experience in leading complex, multi-faceted advancement programs.
- Strong understanding of nonprofit governance and board dynamics.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
- Knowledge of major gift, planned giving, and annual giving strategies.
- Experience in managing a diverse portfolio of donors and prospects.
- Understanding of CRM systems and their implementation.
