About the role

The Chief Advancement Officer (CAO) serves as a key member of Cranbrook Educational Community’s senior leadership team, reporting directly to the President. This role oversees philanthropic strategy and performance across multiple entities within Cranbrook, including schools, museums, art institutions, and research centers.

Responsibilities

  • Provide visionary, data-informed leadership to grow and diversify philanthropic revenue
  • Deepen engagement with donors and constituents
  • Strengthen volunteer and board partnerships
  • Build and lead a high-performing advancement organization

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • At least ten years of progressive advancement/fundraising leadership experience

Qualifications

  • Experience in fundraising and philanthropy
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Ability to manage a diverse portfolio of relationships
  • Knowledge of nonprofit governance and operations

Pay

The target base salary for this position is $275,000 with additional incentive compensation.
