Chief Actuary

About the role

The Chief Actuary at Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Mississippi is responsible for developing and implementing pricing models, monitoring trends, reviewing financial reports, supporting strategic initiatives, and managing costs.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement pricing models and rate recommendations
• Monitor trends and review financial reporting activities including reserving, restated financial statements, and actuarial exhibits
• Aid in the development of financial forecast models and assumptions
• Support major corporate strategic initiatives and key performance objectives
• Identify cost drivers and work with a multidisciplinary team to implement cost management strategies
• Provide professional certification

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or other related field
• Member of the Academy of Actuaries
• Fellow in the Society of Actuaries
• At least eight years of experience as a health actuary required
• Management and supervisory responsibilities preferred
• PC skills including Microsoft Office Suite preferred
• Working knowledge of databases, SAS, and/or SQL preferred
