Job Description

This position is responsible to act as a professional tutor and provide individualized and small group assistance to students who are experiencing difficulty with basic principles and concepts of Chemistry.

• Conduct sessions on general science knowledge that will aid students with courses, preparation for labs, and toward the successful completion of exams.
• Emphasize and promote general skills of problem solving and decision-making, and critical thinking.
• Affirm and assist students in assessing their progress and determining their goals, strengths, and needs, and accommodate as necessary.
• Assist students in developing effective study skills and habits.
• Encourage and reinforce a positive self-concept and orientation toward learning.
• Accurately maintain records on assigned students and submit reports as required.
• Assist students with the use of various learning systems.
• Cookordinate and monitor services provided to program participants.
• Refer special problems to appropriate individuals (i.e., coordinator, counselor, and/or instructor).
• Prepare and lead workshops on for students.
• Meet with instructors to receive up-to-date course information and materials.
• Prepare practice quizzes and exams for individualized learning and success.
• Accurately maintain records and submit reports as required.
• Maintain and develop work-related knowledge, skills, and competencies related to the job through professional development and cross-training opportunities.
• Maintain up-to-date with professional credentials, best practices and current disciplines including continued educational requirements through certifications, seminars, training programs, etc.

Required Qualifications

• Associate degree in Chemistry or related field required.
• Prior work performance must have met or exceeded appropriate work standards in current and prior positions.

Clearances

• The successful candidate will be required to obtain/provide the following clearances prior to hire:
• PA Child History clearance
• PA Criminal Record Check clearance
• FBI Federal Criminal History Record clearance

Physical Demands

• Constantly incurred: Ability to sit, specific visual requirements.
• Frequently incurred: Repetitive finger movement, ability to use both hands, ability to communicate orally & to hear conversation.
• Occasionally incurred: Ability to stand & walk, ability to lift up to 10 lbs., ability to use both legs, ability to climb stairs, ability to balance, ability to stoop, ability to repeatedly bend, use of color vision.

Schedule

Monday - Hours Will Vary 8 a.m. - 7 p.m., Tuesday - Hours Will Vary 8 a.m. - 7 p.m., Wednesday - Hours Will Vary 8 a.m. - 7 p.m., Thursday - Hours Will Vary 8 a.m. - 7 p.m., Friday - Hours Will Vary 8 a.m. -5 p.m., Hybrid Schedule Available - Will Vary

Salary

$19.02/hour
