About the role

As an Applied Chemistry Benchmark Specialist, you will create high-quality chemistry questions to evaluate deep conceptual understanding in AI models. This is a contract, remote position requiring a commitment of 10+ hours per week, with compensation ranging from $61–$77/hour.

Responsibilities

• Author original chemistry questions to test deep conceptual understanding.
• Ensure questions are unambiguous and self-contained with all necessary information.
• Rate each question's difficulty: Medium, Hard, or Expert.
• Provide 1 correct answer and 9 plausible incorrect alternatives.
• Write step-by-step Chain-of-Thought solutions in markdown format.
• Supply 1–5 academic references per question from reputable sources.
• For verification tasks, flag issues with clarity, completeness, or solvability.

Requirements

• PhD or doctoral candidate in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
• Master's degree considered for candidates with exceptional depth in a specific subdomain.
• Strong command of graduate-level chemistry concepts and quantitative analysis.
• Excellent written English and ability to express complex ideas clearly.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with rigorous academic problem design or chemistry olympiad writing.
