Principal Duties And Responsibilities

  • Prepares water samples from customer using standard laboratory practices.
  • Analyzes samples using laboratory equipment to determine the physical, chemical and bacteriologic components.
  • Records findings for reference and reporting purposes.
  • Writes and issues result reports to Quality Assurance and Product Development Departments.
  • Utilizes standard laboratory practices to prevent cross-contamination and inaccurate results.
  • Keeps and sustains equipment clean and in good working order including work station.
  • Interfaces with Quality Assurance and Product Development departments to determine best practices to perform requested analysis.

Qualifications, Skills, Experience

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry, Biology and Microbiology; and 2 years’ related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Six months to one year of water industry experience, a plus.
  • Working knowledge of laboratory instrumentation, basic theory of operation and analytical testing lab experience.
  • Understanding of sampling and preservation guidelines and troubleshooting problems with instrumentation.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as operating, safety rules, maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine to moderately complex reports and correspondence as well as speak effectively before customers or employees of the organization.
  • Apply common sense understanding and carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
  • Basic Microsoft Office Suite skills such as Outlook, Word, Excel.
  • Ability to function in a fast-paced dynamic environment with quick response times and accuracy.
  • Must be able to see/focus for close eye work on small figures and discriminate colors and perceive depths.
  • Must be able to speak/hear to fulfill verbal communications and respond to machine alarms/buzzers.
  • Frequent exposure to gas/fumes/mists and chemicals or hazardous materials while using personal protective equipment when required.
