Responsibilities
- Prepare samples, run analytical tests, and review results to ensure they meet required standards
- Log samples, maintain chain of custody, and report issues that may affect analytical accuracy
- Use approved solvents and techniques to extract analytes and include required QC samples in each batch
- Operate instruments, evaluate raw data, identify analytes, and review reports for accuracy before release
- Assist with implementing and improving methodologies, performing studies, and helping create or revise SOPs
- Complete preventive maintenance, document malfunctions, and coordinate repairs when needed
- Use certified standards, conduct required QA studies, track QC records, and take corrective action when needed
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in chemistry; or
- A bachelor’s degree that includes 30 credits in chemistry or biochemistry
Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
Conditions of Employment
- Possession of a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license
- Possession and maintenance of a REAL ID or passport (proof required at the time of a conditional offer of employment)
- Ability to meet the PA residency requirement
- Ability to perform essential job functions
