Job Description
The position is located in Abteilung 1 „Fortbildung und Unterrichtsentwicklung“ within the Referat 1.31 „MINT: Mathematik, Informatik, Naturwissenschaften und Technik“ at the Standort Speyer.
Responsibilities
- Supporting Referentinnen and Referenten with the preparation of training sessions and workshops in the laboratory
- Setting up experiments for training sessions and workshops
- Providing necessary materials and chemicals for training sessions
- Making solutions and reagents
- Testing experiments from Section 1 and 2
- Care of the chemical collection, including implementation of the Degintu program
- Setting up samples for the “mobile Genlab” and checking the samples, which requires practical experience in molecular biology
- Care of the collection rooms for Chemistry, Physics, Biology, and their respective laboratory equipment and devices
- Having a thorough understanding of laboratory safety
- Organizing the disposal of chemicals through a specialized firm
- Assisting in the production of materials for training sessions (including laboratory activities)
- Compiling experiment materials for training sessions, as well as for the experiment sets that will be distributed to schools under the MINT strategy
- Ordering materials for new experimental boxes
- Organizing and coordinating the loan of experimental cases (e.g., “Ants Case”)
- Ordering consumable materials and reagents for the “Mobile Genlab”
- Cleaning and checking the loaned materials of the MINT strategy
- Organizing and coordinating the loan process, as well as communication with teachers and schools
- Compiling experimental boxes for all MINT areas and cross-cutting themes within the MINT department
- Safe handling of Word, Outlook, Excel
Requirements
- A completed vocational training in the laboratory sector, with a focus on chemistry, e.g., chemist assistant or equivalent training as a chemical technician, and practical experience in the above-mentioned tasks
- Presence in the laboratory/institute in Speyer every Wednesday (6 hours; other days can be negotiated in exceptional cases).
- Home office is not possible.
