Chemical Technician

About the role

The Chemical Technician coordinates and manages all aspects of the production chemical treating program in their assigned geographic region for Crescent Energy. They are responsible for the monitoring and optimization of all production chemicals, coordinating with the operations team, and communicating plans and changes to the chemical vendor. This position reports directly to the Production Superintendent.

Responsibilities

• Utilize Crescent Energy and third-party systems to monitor, trend, and analyze data to make and verify recommendations for chemical treatments and changes within the Production Superintendent’s area.
• Work directly with Engineers and Foremen to ensure wells are treated as efficiently as possible.
• Implement cost-effective preventive maintenance programs for relevant equipment.
• Witness H2S scavenger or media change out for towers.
• Ensure the safe handling and transport of chemicals by employees and third parties.
• Train company personnel in all aspects, to include but not limited to, common applications, safety, and basic troubleshooting and repair.
• Review invoices for billed amounts versus treatment plan and work with Foremen and vendors to resolve discrepancies.
• Coordinate fluid sampling and validate accuracy and scheduling frequency.
• Provide input at well reviews and failure meetings.
• Ensure employees and contractors adhere to Company, Local, State, and Federal policies, rules, and regulations and work with EH&S to maintain compliance.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Bachelor’s Degree in a technical field may be counted towards some of the experience required.
• Minimum of 3 years or more of oilfield experience; chemical experience is a plus.
• Must meet and maintain eligibility requirements to drive a company vehicle.
• Must be dependable and able to work overtime when necessary.
• Working knowledge of chemical injection pumps.
• Basic understanding of solar powered electrical systems.
• Detailed knowledge of surface and downhole production equipment.
• Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
• General knowledge of safe oil and gas production operations.
• Working knowledge of engineering principles and a comprehensive understanding of measurement systems.
• Proficiency with computer applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Ability to perform simple math calculations, mechanical aptitude, and writing skills.
• Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment.
• Self-motivated, strong work ethic, ability to work with minimal supervision, and cooperative behavior in the workplace.

Working Conditions

• Work is normally performed outdoors where exposure to conditions of extreme heat/cold, fumes, and gases is common.
• Noise level is moderate to loud and includes sounds of construction, equipment operations, and trucks.
• Job hazards include working in normal light and heavy construction activities and working around pressured propane, water, electricity, and waste lines under all weather conditions.
• May work in areas where H2S is present.
• Overtime is sometimes required.

Physical Demands

• Work normally requires finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination to operate a computer keyboard at a moderate skill level.
• Work may require frequent pushing, pulling, or carrying 50-to-75-pound objects such as tools and equipment.
• Work involves standing and walking most of the time but will also involve sitting and driving for extended periods, sometimes over rough terrain.
