Chemical Technician

About the role
We are seeking a dedicated Chemical Technician to manage the retention and disposal of materials, both for our organization and our clients, while maintaining accurate records. The role involves receiving, sorting, and ensuring proper storage of samples, handling hazardous materials, and documenting sample information.
Responsibilities
- Receive, sort, and store samples to ensure they are handled correctly.
- Handle hazardous materials such as crude oil, refined petroleum products, refined fuels including gasoline, diesel, fuel oil, residual oil, LPG, petrochemicals, industrial gases, and natural gas.
- Move 20-50 boxes weekly to designated storage units, laboratories, or trucks.
- Dispose of samples in accordance with company policies.
- Scan, label, and document sample information accurately.
Requirements
- At least 6 months of experience in a lab or production environment.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to lift boxes weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Proven ability to follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Skills
- Experience with sample labeling and data entry.
- Proficiency in laboratory procedures and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
- Knowledge of chemistry and material sorting.
Work Environment
The position operates in a fast-paced environment, processing up to 100 samples daily. Work hours are Monday through Friday, from 8 AM to 5 PM. Lab safety attire, including a lab coat, safety glasses, and gloves, will be provided. Dress code requires a shirt that covers the stomach, lower back, and upper arms, long pants, and shoes that completely cover the feet.
Schedule
- Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM.
Pay
The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $22.00/hr. Individual compensation offered within this range will depend on qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.

Location
This is a fully onsite, contract position based in Torrance, CA.
