About the Role
The Chemical Technician is primarily responsible for the safe unloading and storing of chemicals at our Shannon, MS facility.
Responsibilities
- Load and unload trucks and railcars (where applicable).
- Weigh and/or measure quantities of varying types of chemicals.
- Build troughs and grade buns, transferring them to the correct location.
- Mix ingredients in proper sequence and proportions.
- Operate mixing or compounding equipment while maintaining control over time, heat, pressure, color, or other variables.
- Perform blending, filtration, or other related operations as needed.
- Maintain batch time, weight, color, heat, production, and other records to comply with ISO 9000 requirements and standard operating procedures.
- Observe gauges, meters, and panels to monitor operating conditions.
- Operate forklifts, cut-off saws, and various hand tools, including air-powered tools.
- Maintain cleanliness in all areas, especially containment in the event of a spill.
- Ensure proper disposal of materials and assist in maintaining inventory levels.
- Ensure site security to prevent vandalism to railcars (where applicable).
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED equivalent required; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
- Good attention to detail and ability to work accurately from verbal and written instructions.
