About the role
The Chemical System Operator monitors, analyzes, and adjusts electroplating processes, waste-treatment systems, and chemical solutions to ensure proper equipment operation and product quality.
Responsibilities
- Perform all steps to determine the correct chemical balance or material mixture needed for equipment operation, product quality, or other chemical needs.
- Conduct chemical process tests, taking and measuring samples at specified intervals and stages.
- Draft and distribute laboratory reports detailing test results, analysis, and required treatment or process adjustments.
- Safely maintain and store tools, instruments, measuring devices, and equipment.
- Adhere to EPA regulations for proper labeling and disposal of chemical compounds and waste.
- Work alongside the Manufacturing Chemist to ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety standards.
- Provide back-up support to the Manufacturing Chemist as needed.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Familiarity or experience with manufacturing processes.
- Ability to work independently and be self-motivated.
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Thorough attention to detail.
- Ability and willingness to work with hazardous chemicals.
- Knowledge of pumps, mixers, and mechanics is helpful.
Qualifications
- Background in electroplating finishing is helpful.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or a related field highly preferred.
- At least five years of related experience preferred; on-the-job training may substitute for educational requirements.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods working on feet and performing repetitive actions that require frequent bending and stooping.
- Prolonged periods of standing, pushing, pulling, lifting, and carrying materials.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
- Must wear all required PPE and safety equipment for various tasks.
- Exposure to various chemicals and compounds.
