About The Role
We are seeking a motivated, analytical, and detail-oriented Chemical Regulatory & Compliance Engineer to join our Product Safety, Regulatory & Compliance team. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Chemical Regulations, this role will support our global chemical regulatory compliance program and help ensure our products meet applicable safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements. This is an exciting opportunity to help navigate the evolving global chemical regulatory landscape while contributing to the development of safe, trusted products for children and consumers around the world.
Responsibilities
- Research, monitor, and summarize emerging global, federal, state, and regional laws, regulations, and standards related to chemicals and restricted substances in children's and consumer products, including TSCA, REACH, Proposition 65, and other applicable regulations.
- Translate relevant regulatory requirements into internal procedures, processes, and compliance programs.
- Maintain and update the company's Restricted Substances List (RSL) based on evolving regulatory requirements.
- Review the chemical composition of existing and new materials using SDS/MSDS, Bills of Substances, chemical declarations, and other supplier documentation.
- Assess materials against internal RSL requirements and provide technical recommendations regarding chemical compliance.
- Support chemical reporting and regulatory compliance activities under applicable federal and state requirements.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to address chemical compliance and product safety matters.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to advance and improve the company's chemical management database system.
- Identify opportunities to improve consistency, efficiency, and accuracy across chemical compliance processes.
- Stay current on developments in chemical regulations and communicate relevant changes and potential business impacts to stakeholders.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific discipline.
- Strong interest in and/or experience with global chemical regulatory compliance, restricted substances management, or product stewardship.
- Experience or familiarity with chemical regulations applicable to consumer products, including materials such as polymers, coatings, adhesives, inks, textiles, and packaging.
- Strong research, analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate technical and regulatory information into clear recommendations.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- A demonstrated passion for product safety and protecting children through the development of safe, trusted experiences.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with regulatory databases, chemical declarations, supplier compliance programs, or product stewardship initiatives is a plus.
- Experience within the toy, children's products, consumer products, or related industries is preferred.
