About the role

This is an onsite, 3rd shift opportunity with hours from midnight to 6:30am, Monday through Friday. The standard work week is 32.5 hours, with pay for 40 hours.

U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

This position is considered safety sensitive in accordance with FAA Guidelines. Candidates will be subject to drug and alcohol testing as a pre-employment contingency and ongoing random testing as an employee.

Responsibilities

• Plan and perform a variety of cleaning and chemical processing operations to prepare parts for NDI, visual inspection, or return to service.
• Work from operation sheets, Service Process Operation Procedures (SPOP), specifications, and written/verbal instructions to perform standard chemical processing on items made of steel, nickel, aluminum, titanium alloys, other metals, plastics, and composites.
• Degrease and clean items using acid/alkali dipping or soaking, and cold/hot water rinses to remove grease, dirt, scale, smut, and other surface residue.
• Use brushes, scrubbing pads, pumice powder, and cold water to remove corrosion, stains, or other surface residue as needed.
• Visually inspect parts for proper cleaning and reprocess if necessary.
• Mask items with tape, wax, or other coatings as required.
• Load items into baskets and fixtures, set up equipment, and process parts through preparatory solutions.
• Check completed work for surface pitting, excessive etching, discoloration, voids, blisters, stock removal, and surface hardness.
• Assist higher-grade technicians with new, unusual, or large jobs, including handling materials, masking, positioning items, and completing reprocessing operations.
• Operate regeneration equipment to produce deionized water, maintain tank levels, drain/refill processing tanks, and operate ovens to bake parts.
• Assist with moving materials and containers using hoists, hand trucks, or forklifts.
• Perform other related duties to facilitate chemical processing and surface cleaning functions.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Basic knowledge of the action of various chemicals on different materials.
• Ability to work from drawings, operation sheets, specifications, and handbooks.
• Application of general surface treatment methods to developmental operations and specific problems.
• U.S. citizenship is required.

Qualifications

You Must Have:

• High School Diploma or GED.
• 6-12 months of trades training (preferred).

• 1+ years of experience working on a clean or etch line, preferably within the aviation industry.
