About the role

The Chemical Operator manufactures chemical products while ensuring compliance with all company policies. This role requires a safety-conscious, results-driven individual who:

  • Incorporates safety and quality into every decision
  • Communicates effectively with supervisors and peers
  • Operates chemical processes and equipment to safely produce quality products
  • Actively seeks process improvements and collaborates with management to implement changes

The ideal candidate is positive, task-oriented, and possesses chemical manufacturing experience with strong mechanical aptitude.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the safe and efficient operation of assigned processes, including hazardous chemical transfers
  • Apply all plant safety rules, guidelines, and procedures
  • Wear and maintain required personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Develop and implement process, equipment, and procedural improvements

Daily Duties

  • Conduct walk-throughs to audit safety and housekeeping
  • Perform quality assurance checks on manufactured products
  • Adjust formulations to meet product specifications
  • Assist in loading trailers with products and unloading raw materials
  • Complete Certificates of Compliance for loaded trailers
  • Accurately complete batch sheets, run sheets, and shift reports
  • Maintain and communicate Daily Management practices for the facility

Maintenance

  • Submit MaintainX work orders for maintenance issues
  • Inspect plant equipment daily and report issues to supervisors

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Chemical, pharmaceutical, or food manufacturing experience (preferred)
  • Prior forklift driving experience
  • Ability to obtain forklift certification within 30 days of hire (if applicable)
  • Ability to learn the chemical operator position within 60 days of hire
  • Must be able to work overtime, changing shifts, and perform physical labor as required

  • Planning and prioritization skills for daily process operations
  • Attention to detail and knowledge of chemical manufacturing/equipment
  • Dependability, flexibility, and ability to respond on short notice
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Analytical and mathematical aptitude
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)

Essential Functions

  • Participate in site respirator program (if applicable), pass spirometry test, and wear a respirator as required
  • Routinely lift up to 75 lbs. throughout the shift
  • Stand for up to 80% of the shift
  • Traverse the site, including buildings, ship ladders, catwalks, and confined spaces
  • Work at elevated platforms without hesitation or fear
