About the role

The Acid Plant Treater is responsible for maintaining the safety, quality, and environmental effectiveness of the departmental operations at our Nashville location.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the overall efficient operation of the chemical production process in one of several production units.
• Maintain records for safety, quality, housekeeping, environmental compliance, and production output.
• Utilize an HMI system to monitor process and storage tanks or hopper levels, manage process operating parameters, and ensure efficient operation.
• Operate and troubleshoot all equipment and instrumentation, adjust and clean equipment, and record data on logs, spreadsheets, and in the JDE E1 ERP system.
• Safely and efficiently unload raw material railcars, package phosphoric or polyphosphoric acid into railcars, bulk trucks, totes, and varying sizes of drums.
• Inspect and maintain process filters, mills, and sieving screens.
• Move pallets, containers, and equipment using a forklift in restricted spaces.

Requirements

• Valid Driver's License.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Must be available to work changing/rotating shifts and schedules.
• Computer literacy.
• Capability to become a licensed lift truck operator.
• Ability to accurately complete log sheets/reports (both paper and electronic), understand written material, perform basic mathematics, and make appropriate transactions in E1.
• Demonstrate knowledge of process flow description (PFD), key process control points, process description, round sheets, data sheets, analytical specifications, and troubleshooting through written and oral testing and actual operation of equipment.
• Good attendance record.
• 3+ years of industrial chemical operator experience.
• Ability to follow Good Manufacturing Practices, including wearing clean protective clothing, adhering to personal hygiene standards, and following food/drink/tobacco restrictions.

Environmental and/or Physical Requirements

• Frequent sitting, bending, and standing.
• Daily climbing of process area stairs and operation of moving equipment (e.g., forklift).
• Occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs.
• Able to wear a respirator (must comply with facial hair policy) and other required personal protective equipment.

Schedule

• Rotating Shift: 1st shift (6:30 am–2:30 pm), 2nd shift (2:30 pm–10:30 pm), 3rd shift (10:30 pm–6:30 am).
• Monday–Sunday.
• Initially assigned to 1st shift for training; required to rotate between all 3 shifts (shift premium applied on 2nd and 3rd shifts).
• Alternative work schedules may be required based on site business needs.
• Eligible for overtime pay on hours worked exceeding 8/day, 8 consecutive hours, or 40/week.
• Bi-weekly pay on Fridays.

Pay

Wages start at $34.64/hour in accordance with the labor contract.
