About the Role
A Finishing Technician I at CONMED is primarily responsible for producing parts that meet cosmetic requirements and standards.
Responsibilities
- Operate Bead Blast Operations.
- Operate centrifugal finishing equipment.
- Operate vibratory finishing equipment.
- Operate buffing equipment.
- Plug and mask parts per print for all mechanical and chemical finishing operations.
- Perform weighing and measuring operations to maintain bath concentrations as instructed and basic maintenance on all equipment.
- Perform equipment PM’s.
- Produce parts with zero defects.
- Read drawings and follow work instructions and procedures.
- Operate wastewater handling equipment according to instructions.
- Operate chemical finishing operations such as Type II passivation, clear coat anodize, and hard coat anodize.
- Work at established production rates.
- Sustain and maintain 5S standards and support continuous improvement activities.
Requirements
- Minimum of one year of work experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment, specifically in finishing and/or coating processes.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Willingness to work with materials/chemicals used in the manufacturing process.
- Ability to learn and become proficient in metals finishing/plating, reading instructions, schematics, and blueprints, operating various types of production equipment, and using gauges and other measurement tools.
- Commitment to follow all metals finishing and plating procedures.
- Ability to operate equipment safely without causing injury or damage.
- Willingness and ability to work scheduled overtime and rotate through various manufacturing processes in a team environment.
- Reliable and predictable availability to perform duties at the assigned work site and start time.
- Ability to function in a high-performance work team environment.
- Good hand/eye coordination and manual dexterity.
- Basic computer skills.
Physical Requirements
- Work at a bench height of 37.5” to 42”.
- Stand for up to eight hours per day.
- Move about, bend, stoop, use hands, and lift up to 25 pounds unassisted.
- Visual acuity of at least 20/40 in each eye (corrected or uncorrected) and ability to distinguish colors.
