Chemical Lab Technician

About the role

Under the supervision of a Senior Technician or Chemist, the Technician will be expected to perform the following functions with a high level of initiative and independence.

Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical/electrical/thermal properties testing of thermal interface materials and coating
• Evaluate, collect, and record data
• Participate in organizing and performing experiments using established procedures while summarizing and reporting results in a laboratory notebook/ppt
• Use a computer to enter data/information including charts and tables for communication of project results/details
• Run and upkeep laboratory equipment; lead/support ongoing standardization, harmonization and administration of laboratory test methods
• Ensure laboratory and application equipment are calibrated and safety checked in compliance with local regulations
• Conduct standard lab testing to support new product introductions and customer sample testing
• Compile data into Excel spreadsheets to share with Application Engineers and other internal colleagues

Qualifications

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a technical field (a degree in material science, mechanical/civil/structural/material/chemical engineering would be a plus)
• 1–3 years of demonstrated laboratory experience
• Computer literate in Microsoft Office products
• Ability to understand and follow experimental protocols for preservation of data
• Comfortable and able to work with toxic chemicals while following safe laboratory practices/protocols
• The ability to stand while working in the laboratory throughout most of the day
• Basic experience in the lab/workshop setting
