CHEM Group is a custom chemical processor with expertise in distillation technologies, pastillation, blending, reaction chemistry purification, and heat transfer fluids.
About the role
We are currently looking for a 2nd shift Chemical Lab Technician in Evansville, IN. 2nd shift hours: 4pm to 1am (Day shift hours will be required until training is complete).
Responsibilities
- Perform laboratory tests to produce reliable and precise data supporting quality assurance, new product development, and product/process improvement objectives.
- Carry out routine tasks accurately and following strict methodologies to conduct analysis.
- Prepare chemical standards, collect samples for analysis, and ship customer samples.
- Construct, maintain, and operate standard laboratory equipment (e.g., titrators, pH meters, colorimeters, viscometers, gas chromatographs).
- Ensure the laboratory is well-stocked, properly equipped, and well organized.
- Maintain laboratory records, including procedures, test data, and calibration records.
- Record and sometimes interpret results to present to senior colleagues.
- Use computers and perform mathematical calculations to interpret and present analytical results.
- Keep up to date with technical developments to improve time-saving and reliability methods.
- Conduct searches on identified topics relevant to research.
- Follow and ensure strict safety procedures and safety checks.
- Provide special assistance as required by production or during plant/customer trials.
- Other job duties/requirements may be assigned or changed to adapt to business needs.

Requirements
- 2-4 years of relevant experience, specialized postsecondary training, or an associate degree in chemistry or equivalent field.
- Excellent communication skills in both spoken and written English.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Overtime may be required, particularly during peak seasons or specific project deadlines.
- Problem-solving skills with the ability to multitask effectively.
- Flexibility to work in a small company atmosphere.

Pay
Starting pay is $20/hr - $24/hr depending on experience.
