Responsibilities
- Create chemical formulations, processes, and equipment for water treatment plants, hazardous waste treatment, and related industrial applications of basic to high complexity to meet client project requirements.
- Review draft designs for compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and sign off on completed designs.
- Ensure firm policies and practices are followed on all designs.
- Perform site reviews and studies to ensure designs align with location specifications and update design requirements as necessary.
- Conduct water sampling, treatment analyses, and modeling.
- Contribute to the firm’s technical knowledge management (TKM) by developing white papers and technical design documentation.
- Submit technical papers and designs for publishing to technical journals.
- Collaborate with sales staff to create proposals in response to client requests for proposal (RFPs).
- Review draft proposals for adherence to firm, industry, state, local, and federal regulations and best practices.
- Meet with current and potential clients to review their design needs.
- Attend conferences and symposia to improve the visibility of the firm’s products and services.
- Provide technical guidance and training to junior staff and mentor them for future growth.
- May supervise the work of junior engineers on project work.
- Perform other duties as required.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Petroleum Engineering or a related discipline.
- Professional engineering (PE) license.
- 7 years of related experience.
- Expert knowledge of computer-assisted design and drafting (CADD) 3D and 4D software and practices.
- Expert knowledge of engineering principles of design.
- Expert knowledge of Microsoft business software (Excel, Word, etc.).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Expert knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations.
- Domestic and/or international travel may be required (10% or less).
- An appropriate and valid driver’s license is required.
- Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
Pay
Pay range minimum: USD $100,214.00
Pay range maximum: USD $175,365.00
CDM Smith is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. This pay range is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels for the geographic location assigned to the position. Additional factors such as relevant work experience, skills, required certifications, and education/training may influence salary.
All bonuses at CDM Smith are discretionary and may or may not apply to this position.
